1 Week Boot Camp
The Veracity Film Academy is designed to teach students a biblical perspective of storytelling. This one week boot camp is for those just starting a career, looking for a biblical base - and for those deep into a career, looking for tools to use their gifts for God’s glory. I would strongly recommend training like this.  I was very fortunate to be able to attend the Travel Channel Academy.  It...

More on Greenscreen
Barton Damer has a great post over at Collides site on a cheap greenscreen.  What he didn’t do was go into detail on how important the lighting aspect is.   Check out this quick video on lighting for a greenscreen.

A Big Thanks To Collide.
Back in April I received an email from Daniel Darnell asking if we (Reality Church) were interested in a Church Spotlight in Collide Magazine.  After paramedics were rushed to check on me I gathered my thoughts and wrote back “sure sounds great” (aka ‘ARE YOU KIDDING ME, HECK YES!!)  Why am I freaking out like a 3 yr. old??  Simple, when you look at past articles the majority...

Technology and History merge.
Follow the Apollo 11 mission in realtime + 40 years. Were you around for the launch of Apollo 11 back in 1969? Did you huddle around the TV for a glimpse of what was happening? Don’t you wish it could have been covered using all the media tools that are available today? Starting today, WeChoosetheMoon.org is live, in honor of the 40th anniversary of the July 16th launch of Apollo 11 from...

This is Anti-Green. (just a heads up)
Love the creativity here! A couple of students from Kingston University in London heeded a call from Hewlett Packard to create a commercial using the computer behemoth’s products. Matthew Robinson and Tom Wrigglesworth, the auteurs behind the ad, take a bow. HP, you are a very, very lucky corporation to have these two turning one of your mundane tech necessities into something so spanky....

What to Bring?
I am headed to LA next Monday to turn around and drive 3000 miles back home. Sound insane?? Hear me out.  A good friend of ours is moving to Va. Beach and I am going to make the trek with him.  He does production work full time  and has been helping write and even star in some of our videos at Reality. All that said, we put together a plan to kick off the fall with a big non-believer focused...

A different approach to the iPhone 3G (S)
This device is simply a game changer.  Forget that it’s a phone, that hardly matters.  The addition of the video camera truly sets it apart.  Alex Lindsay has an over the top, but unique approach to how the new iPhone will change things.  Watch this video. Then there is the flip.  I love my Mino.  Small form factor, 720p video and easy to use.  I wonder though if it’s now...

ATM... It's not what you think
As a small church plant that meets in a High School, Reality misses that connection point “between Sundays”.  We have been looking over different ways to challenge our people to take what we talked about in church on Sunday deeper on their own during the week. We have come up with ATM or After The Message. It is designed to in 3 minutes or less: Recap last Sunday Challenge them to go...

Want To Go Video?!? Go Indie Pt. 2
If tapeless is your preference than the Canon HF11 is the way to go. It replaced the famous Canon HF10 (well famous because if it’s use in the major motion picture Crank 2)  It has no tape mechanism, Canon opted for 32Gb internal flash memory instead. It can also record to cheap SDHC media, and offers 24p as well. Instead of the HV-series HDV codec, the HF11 records full-raster 1920×1080...

Want To Go Video?!? Go Indie Pt. 1
Canon offers the best bang for your buck when it comes to affordble high quality cameras. If you prefer tapes (mini DV), the HV-30 is the best option out there. The HV30 currently has an 8.1 out of 10 rating over at TestFreaks.  It works great as a b-roll cam to it’s big brother the Canon XH-A1. Below is a good example of just what this $700.00 camera can do. Christened (HV30 -...

HD camcorder for less than $100
Who would’ve believed even a year ago that you’d be able to buy a high-definition camcorder for less than $100? Believe. In July, you’ll be able to buy the DXG-125V, which shoots 720p video using H.264 compression along with 3 MP still pics, for less than a C-note. Not only is the slab-shaped model cheap (its official price is $99.99 but you’ll probably be able to find...

Show Some Love
We started giving “Video Shout Outs” to our volunteers on our Facebook page this week.  I thought about a cool way to really recognize the peolpe who actually make church happen every week.  I mean stop right now and ask how well your ministry would be doing without the work horses. Go show some love!!

Volunteers
At Reality we struggle more than the average church with consistent volunteers.  Most Christians understand the heart of serving in the church to “keep it afloat” per say, where the unchurched or new believer have not grasped that concept. So I put it out to you: What are some successful ways you recruit and keep your volunteers??
